Weekend full of food and surprises!

1. I finally took the decision to nurse my hair back to good health - colored it blackish last friday. I'm so not used to my hair being blackish with a hint of dark brown under the sun. The last time I had black hair was probably during secondary school days before I decided to un-asianize my hair color!

Which do you prefer?

2. Was granduncle's 80th birthday on Saturday nite. Buffet as usual since there were probably 50 guests that nite. Too much food!

3. Was also voting day on Saturday. Everyone was amazed with news coming in during the dinner esp when they found out few ministers lost their seat to oppositions. Amazed and excited.
And then scared for riots, so we all left around 9.45pm.

4. Yongy's wedding on Sunday. I was 1 of his honoured 'heng tai' (chinese term for a relation similar to brother) - He had a team of 'unisex' 'heng tais' to take torture from the chee muis (chinese term for a relation similar to sister).

No other photos for now.. Think Yongy's photographers took quite alot of shots, so will share with u guys once I have the photos.

Time to go home....

Status of my move

My most seeked-after answer these days: "So when are you moving to Australia?"

Ah, the question that I wished I could have everyone who asked me to ask the Immigration officer who's processing my visa right now. She would then realise that she has the power to change someone's life forever. And the power to stop me from saying the same thing over and over again.

So what’s been happening to me lately? Well, since Chinese new year, nothing much! I’m now at a position of tasting the feeling of being ‘stranded’ – my visa’s been pending for 2 months now. 2 months and no good news at all. Not good given that I paid a bomb for my visa agent and all he advised me is to ‘wait’. He told me that the immigration office might be agitated and might place my submission at the end of the pile if we do make enquiries about it.

My reaction: What a load of crap! Firstly, I’ve heard that lately, 2 cases of Malaysians applying for the spouse visa in Australia got approved within a month from 2 different sources. Secondly, if I’m the immigration officer and if my ‘client’ don’t really show any signs of interest in getting their visas quickly, I’ll definitely take my time in looking and processing the case if I’ve got 101 cases to look through. I don’t know what is their attitude in processing visas, but their actions are definitely affecting relationships by just dragging it longer. Our lives are just put on hold for now – I can’t plan my job and hubbii can’t start looking around for apartments as we plan to rent wherever that’s close to my job location for the moment before we get a house. Also, 2 weekends ago was the MAS travel fair and I missed the opportunity to get my flight ticket since I had no news at all.

I voiced out my frustrations to hubbii and he decided to call the immigration lady up.
She mentioned that she was waiting for Scotland Yard to confirm on my police-check and just received it lately. Plus their system was down for a week or 2 blah blah. And in summary, she just said 'soon'.

When hubbii told me that, I had more regrets on my visa agent. It is because of my UK police-check that I had postponed my whole submission as it took them 2 months to reach me. I waited for that before I lodged my application as THAT WAS WHAT MY VISA AGENT TOLD ME TO DO!
And here they are, checking on it again from their end. What the???
I wouldn't have wasted time if I knew the immigration office was going to check on it as well.

*double SIGH*

Unfortunately, that cute baby's not mine :P
Family lunch during chinese new year..

This waiting game with the immigration centre is a real torture. Really :(
I can’t just go over to Australia without having my visa approved as I have to be here once they grant the approval. So now, the only way for us to see each other is for hubbii to come here.

Lately I had a proposal from a future employer that they are willing to fly me to Australia for transition in March/April, before I go over for good. But they are only willing to do that if I can promise that I WILL be there in May. What a tempting offer but hell, I can’t take it as I really do not have control over the visa approval. What if the immigration officer decided to reject due to whatever reasons, or what if the person handling my case had 500 applications to deal with and she fell sick or etc etc. Millions of ‘what ifs’ can just happen and I can’t be selfish to commit to my future employer when I seriously don’t know what’s going to happen.

Sigh.

Reunion with some Assuntarians during CNY

Sometimes I don’t know if honesty pays but I guess my guilty conscience just wouldn’t leave me if I do lie about the position that I am in today. I was offered a promotion mid of last year but I turned it down as I thought I would be leaving the country right after the wedding in Dec. I didn’t want to put my boss in a difficult mode as they would need to look for another person after 6 mths or so (give my assumption then) and I know it’s going to be tough on the company.

But look at me now – still here, and still doing the same jobrole although I know that I can do better than where I am today. If not for my conscience, I would have just taken the job as it would at least give me a jump in my salary. Darn my conscience!

My first time . . .

There's always a first in everything that you do. And yesterday, it truly was my first time. It gave me a soothing feeling... was so relaxed... chilled... at times it was cooling against my warm skin and the slippery feel of her fingers rubbing against me, my face... YES, it was my first time doing a facial!

After donkey years of not caring much for my skin, I've finally went on and tried a facial. My mum keep bugging me, 'you are going to step into another new decade of your life... you better take care of your skin otherwise you'll look so old by 35.. blah blah'.

Although I really enjoyed the 1 hr 40 minutes of face pampering, I have to say that it's quite a price to pay for women to maintain her 'beauty'. I'm so not used to spending money for beauty, such as spending on make-ups, face creams, facials.. it's a bomb out of my pocket! I rather take the money and spend it on tangible assets. Stuffs that I can see and own at the end of the day.

One things for sure - 1 facial session can't do much for one's face. I don't really feel different today, with exception a small reddish itchy lump on my right eye-bag area today and my guess' that my skin's just not used to the products they used. Especially my eye area. It's a tough one to please! I've always had sensitive skin since young, and although my eye dark circle's getting worse these days (from all the late nites when I was younger... ah, those were the days) I can't use any cream etc as I'll just get these itchy lumps and only dettol cream could cure it in a day or 2's time.

I did however purchase another of their package which includes some eye treatment thingy. We'll see how it goes... darn the ageing effect on women!

American Idol is back!

OMG, American Idol is back!!!

Season #7 on Astro Starworld every Wed & Thurs! Wee!

Ah, just as I thought I was going to give up on being a couch potato since I hardly 'followed up' on any TV series/dramas lately (a habit stopped by all the wedding planning and appoinments but it somehow lingered on even after the wedding), American Idol's new season has begun.

Darn it. There goes any social outings on wednesdays and thursdays nite up till mid March. Plus Heroes season 2's starting next week here as well... urgh!

Overdue blog-post.. still overdue!

Just heard that some of my friends, especially those overseas, are still reading my blog! Weee!

OK la, it gives me more incentive to blog I guess? hehe.. nah, kidding. I actually started to blog when master Yoda suggested that I should 'document' down my wedding planning - heart aches, joys & stress levels. And especially the 1st few months of blogging, I realised that it helped me 'cope' my stress levels in some ways.
It's like pouring your heart out to someone without really saying it face to face. I'm sure you know the feeling that you tend to 'hold back' stuffs when you're talking to your friend face to face or even sometimes on the phone, right? :)

Work's occupying most of my time these days. Have been crazily loaded ever since my long leave :(
I'll try and blog tmr nite since I need to be home early tmr.... till tmr, take care people!

Alone again. Time for some updates!

I suddenly feel empty.

Hubby (yes, upgraded from BearyBrad to Hubby now!) has just left yesterday night to go back to Australia and looks like it’ll be another 3 mths till we see each other again where I hope and pray that it’ll be both of us flying to Sydney then.

This’ probably the 28th time that we’re parting again and darn it, it still feels like it was yesterday that he landed in KLIA. It still hurts everytime we part and I get really emotional especially the first week of being apart. Am missing him like crazy now. Feels different not seeing my hubby sleeping on my bed, or massaging my feet when I’m chilling out on the sofa or my bed or even hearing him calling out his own chinese name that Jess named him.
*sob*

It has been exactly 1 mth and 1 day that hubby was here. I can still recall how stressed I was last mth this time. Was definitely not in a good mood most of the time despite people telling me that I had the "bride’s glow" prior to the wedding. Hmm.. Not sure what glow did they see but I definitely wasn’t doing any ‘pampering’ then as I had sleepless nites and diet was all hay-wired as I was eating at weird times.

Anyway, come to think of it, we didn’t do much after the wedding. We just chilled out in KL most of the time as my in-laws stayed at KL Grand millenium till the 13th. Oh, we went to Genting for a day trip too. That's it with my in-laws.

Genting trip

Then we had to settle some stuffs on the visa and subsequently our little 4D3N trip to Penang. It was peak period and we made our decision a little too late, so we didn’t manage to go to Koh Samui (our 1st choice). The the rest of the place were all fully booked too despite the monsoon season.

Hubby squeezing himself in a log

Didn't do much in Penang as I fell sick 1 of the days. Penang seemed pretty dead in the afternoon.. most hawker stalls were closed and the food selection in some of the malls we went to was kinda dissapointing compared to KL/PJ's.
The only 'lively' place during weekdays we noticed was Gurney drive. That place's so freaking lively even at 1am!

Us camwhoring since no one else was there to take pics for us

After our Penang trip, it was back to KL/PJ for more X'mas shopping. Shop Shop Shop that I'm so darn broke now.
Think I need to live on bread and water plus free coffee/tea/milo from work during weekdays for a mth (at least) to recover my expenses... wedding and x'mas expenses, as I need to recover in time for chinese new yr.. my 1st year of being married i.e. first year in giving out angpows! Urggh! Talk about perks of being married............

My hse's X'mas tree

Anyway, we had a quiet christmas this year. Only Cousin Kooji & his family plus Loli Bestie came over for dinner on christmas eve.
Speaking of which, there was a crazy massive jam at Rawang on X'mas eve due to floods. It took us 2 hrs to get home from One Utama where thank God we took the Bukit Beruntung exit instead of jamming into the Rawang toll exit on NKVE. The cars could not move at all into Rawang as the 1 and only road leading into the town was blocked to due the bad flood. It took Kooji 3 hrs to get to my hse from PJ!!

But we all forgot about the crazy jam when we saw what's for dinner. We had turkey, roasted ham, pickled ham, soup, salad, mutton, mushrooms and some others I can't recall. Forgot to take photos of it since we were super hungry then!

Will continue later on some other updates..
